Educated as a Political Scientist. 1993-2000 and 2002-05, Senior Researcher and Research Director, Norwegian Institute of International Affairs, Oslo; primary focus was international security, conflict resolution and peacekeeping. Currently, Managing Director and Member of the Managing Board, World Economic Forum, Geneva; concurrently, Head of Geopolitical Affairs. United Nations Undersecretary-General and Secretary-General's Special Adviser on Cyprus, chairing the recently restarted negotiations aiming at reunifying the country.
