Kai-yan Lee - Global Leadership Fellow 2010
Kai obtained his formal education in architecture and urban planning, international trade and finance, and regional economics at UC Berkeley, Harvard University, and MIT. He joined the 2010 GLF cohort with diverse and global experiences in real estate, infrastructure, and urban development sectors.
He was the Head of Real Estate Industry and Associate Director of Infrastructure and Urban Development when in the GLF programme. His work focused on building a more resilient and sustainable real estate sector globally given its slow recover after the financial recession. In addition, he was in the strategic infrastructure initiative to promote efficient and effective public private partnership for critical infrastructure projects. He also headed the Forum’s overall development and engagement efforts with the real estate sector globally, and managed the Global Agenda Council on Real Estate.
Upon the completion of the GLF programme, Kai joined Vanke, the largest residential developer in China (and of the world), to steer its entry, operations, and expansions in the U.S.. He considers the global sectoral knowledge and the leadership training gained at the GLF programme critical assets for him to lead the exciting globalizing efforts of a major Chinese company.
