Special Meeting on Economic Growth and Job Creation in the Arab World

Against the backdrop of large-scale economic and political shifts in the Arab world  and heightened economic uncertainty at the global level, the World Economic Forum Special Meeting on Economic Growth and Job Creation in the Arab World convened at the Dead Sea in Jordan to address the fundamental conditions required to revive economic growth and create the jobs needed to accelerate human development.

In a variety of session formats, participants discussed topics ranging from how to enhance the ecosystem for entrepreneurship to the role of Arab countries in supporting economies in transition. Major themes that emerged included supporting quality growth; the imperative for creating a more level playing field for regional actors, characterized by increased transparency and accountability; and the need for increased dynamism in terms of investments and start-up businesses. The Meeting ended with an urgent call for action to support positive outcomes in the region.
