Science, technology, knowledge and creativity are critical to human progress. For the last 200 years, the global IP system has worked to incentivise creativity, ensure quality, and reward invention.
The global IP system is a long-term investment engine which requires long-term thinking to deliver long-term value. It is a complex field, but is fundamental to propel human progress – while its costs may be easier to observe than its benefits, both need to be properly understood.
But as the world changes so must the IP system. It is essential that we have a vision of the IP system of the future, to ensure that society continues to harness the benefits of the world’s knowledge for generations to come. This is why we need IP2030 – a common global vision for the future of the IP System.
