About the Young Global Leaders

The Third Annual Summit of the Forum of Young Global Leaders – which took place from 4-8 September in Dalian, China, gathered 227  Young Global Leaders from 52 countries on 6 continents together to learn with each other and from each other within a global network of peers.

This year’s Summit  was an intense and creative workshop to understand The Future of Leadership. In regional groups, YGLs discussed the traits and characteristics of the dominant leadership models in their regions and their relationship to culture, society and education. They explored how these models evolved in the recent past and their similarities and differences to those in other parts of the world.
YGLs discussed the ways in which leadership is changing in the world today. They identified the timeless aspects of leadership, the elements that are in transformation and the new skills, abilities and mindsets that leaders will need in the future.

They also had a chance for the community to work together (and plan further work) in the task forces they have organised around the biggest global challenges facing our generation – Health, Education, the Environment, Global Governance, Development and Poverty.
