Alberto C. Vollmer is Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Ron Santa Teresa, a rum distiller in Venezuela established in 1796. He holds a degree in Civil Engineering and has also completed programmes in strategy, finance, marketing and conflict resolution. While at university, he worked as a photographer in Bolivia, Chile and Venezuela. As a civil engineer, Vollmer worked in an alternative housing project in the slum of Carapita and then in the public housing department of a state government. He is a board member of Gas Doméstico-Domegas, Fundación Bigott, Venamcham and Vice-President of CONAPRI (Consejo Nacional de Promoción de Inversiones). He founded Project Alcatraz, a social rehabilitation programme that recruits and reinserts gang members into society. He has founded numerous rugby teams, was a member of the Police Reform Commission in Venezuela and has advised different Latin American countries on reinserting violent citizens into society.
