Alexander Stubb has been Minister for European Affairs and Foreign Trade of Finland since June 2011 and Member of the Finnish Parliament since March 2011. He was Minister for Foreign Affairs of Finland from 2008 to 2011 and a Member of the European Parliament from 2004 to 2008. Prior to his political career, Stubb has acted as Adviser to the President of the European Commission, Visiting Professor of the College of Europe in Bruges, Counsellor and Researcher at the Permanent Representation of Finland to the European Union, and Researcher at the Academy of Finland and Ministry for Foreign Affairs. He has participated in several EU intergovernmental conferences as Member of the Finnish government's delegation. Stubb holds a PhD in International Politics from the London School of Economics. He has published 11 books and numerous academic articles on the European Union, and is a regular columnist to several papers.
