Andre Faaij is Professor and Coordinator of Research Energy Supply and System Studies, Copernicus Institute for Sustainable Development and Innovation, Utrecht University. Previously, he was Assistant Professor STS-UU; Energy & Environment and Associate Professor STS-UU, Energy Supply & System Studies. He has published some 240 titles in scientific journals, reports, books and proceedings. He has experience with over 70 projects for EC, Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research, government and international bodies and private sector. Qualifications include: Base Qualification Education (Lecturer); training in PGO education methods (Problem Directed Education); Senior Qualification Education (Senior Lecturer); Senior Qualification Research (Senior Researcher; and University training trajectory “Academic Leadership”. Faaij's expertise includes: Energy from biomass and waste; Biomass resources & sustainability; Energy conversion technologies; renewables; energy system studies and modelling; GHG balances; clean fossil fuel-based energy systems. He has an MSc in Chemistry & Environmental Sciences and a PhD in Energy from Biomass & Waste from Utrecht University; was visiting researcher at King's College - London University; and visiting researcher at the Center for Energy and Environmental Studies at Princeton University.
