Chief Executive Officer
Good African Coffee
Andrew Rugasira founded Good African Coffee, a social entrepreneurial company, in 2004. It employs a quadruple bottom line business approach with coffee farmers, their communities, shareholders and employees representing the stakeholder matrix. Good African Coffee gives 50% of its net profits to the community via sustainable community empowerment projects. The company’s philosophy is “Trade, not aid”, which, Rugasira believes is the only viable, sustainable strategy for African economic and social development. Good African Coffee supports farmers from producer organizations, giving them farming inputs and providing training in best practices to improve the quality of their crops. It also promotes social well-being by supporting orphanages, healthcare and education projects. A graduate in Law and Economics from the University of London, he has written numerous papers and articles and was a research fellow at the Centre for Basic Research, Kampala. He is Uganda’s Country Chairman of the Eastern African Fine Coffees Association and a Member of Uganda’s Presidential Investor Roundtable.
