Antonio Simoes is Chief Executive Officer of HSBC in the UK, responsible for retail and wealth management, commercial, global banking and markets, and private banking businesses. He is also Deputy Chief Executive of HSBC Bank, the group's principal European subsidiary, and Director of the French subsidiary of HSBC Bank. Simoes joined HSBC in 2007 as Group Head of Strategy. In 2009, he was appointed Group Head of Strategy and Planning and Chief of Staff to the Group CEO, and subsequently spent two years in Hong Kong. In 2012, he relocated to London to lead the European Retail Banking and Wealth Management, with responsibility for asset management and insurance. Before joining HSBC, Simoes was a Partner at McKinsey & Company’s London office and worked at Goldman Sachs. He has been a Member of the Practitioner Panel of the Financial Conduct Authority and of the Practitioner Panel of the Prudential Regulation Authority. Simoes holds an MBA, with honours, from Columbia University in New York.
