Executive Director, Lakshman Kadirgamar Institute for International Relations and Strategic Studies (LKIIRSS), a national think tank. Adviser to the Minister of External Affairs. Young Global Leader, World Economic Forum. Recipient of award, Golden Key International Honour Society (GKIHS). Asanga Abeyagoonasekera is Executive Director of the Lakshman Kadirgamar Institute for International Relations and Strategic Studies (LKIIRSS), the premiere national think tank of Sri Lanka. Prior to this, he was Chairman of the Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Agency. After the Asian Tsunami in 2004, he served as Chairman of the Ceylon Fishery Harbours Corporation. He was the youngest ever appointed for all three positions. Abeyagoonasekera has served as a senior consultant to Sri Lanka's Minister of Transport and currently is an adviser to the Minister of External Affairs. Before working in government sector, he also worked in the telecommunications sector. Abeyagoonasekera holds an MBA and BSc in Computer Science from Western Australia, and completed an Executive Education programme at the Harvard Kennedy School. He was awarded for outstanding academic achievement by the Golden Key International Honour Society.
