Ashutosh Tiwari's areas of expertise include SMEs, entrepreneurship, non-profit management, water, development and public policy. He is currently Country Representative for WaterAid Nepal and is Co-Founder of Entrepreneurs for Nepal (E4N), a networking organization for Nepali entrepreneurs. Previously, he was Chief Executive Officer of Himalmedia, Nepal's leading media house. He was also Head of WaterAid in Nepal, working with the government, civil society, non-profit and private institutions to provide water and sanitation to the poor. Tiwari studied economics at Harvard University. Afterwards, he worked as a strategist for a social movement in rural Nepal, assisting in a campaign that led to the freedom of about 200,000 bonded ethnic Tharu labourers. Convinced that profits enabled the poor to take charge of their lives, Tiwari worked as an adviser on SMEs at GiZ-Nepal and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
