Carlos Danel is Executive Vice-President and Co-Founder of Compartamos Banco, which focuses on offering services of financial inclusion to the low-income sector. Currently, Compartamos has five subsidiaries, three of which are microfinance institutions in Guatemala, Peru and Mexico. The other subsidiaries are a banking correspondent network and a foundation supporting social activities. Compartamos Banco is the largest microfinance institution in Latin America and is listed on the Mexican Stock Exchange. Compartamos is a Global Growth Company Member and Member of the Companies Circle of the Latin American Corporate Governance Roundtable (IFC and OCDE). Danel is a Member of the Global Council of Thunderbird University and a participant in the World Microfinance Forum of Geneva. He is also on the Board of Directors of several companies. Danel has a BA in Architecture from the Universidad Iberoamericana and an MBA from IPADE. He has taught at the Economic Institute in Boulder, Colorado, in the US.
