Dionysia-Theodora Avgerinopoulou is a Member of the Hellenic Parliament and the Deputy Head of the Environmental Policy Sector of the New Democracy Party. She is an attorney, specialized in Environmental, International and European Law and ADR. She holds an LL.B. from the National University of Athens, an LL.M. in International Legal Studies from Georgetown University Law Center and a JSD. (Ph.D. in Law) from Columbia Law School. She has worked at the Legal Service of the European Commission, the Permanent Mission of the European Union to the United Nations, and the Yale Center for Environmental Law and Policy at Yale Law School. She is the co-founder and President of the European Institute of Law, Science & Technology (www.eurilst.org). For steadily pursuing humanitarian and environmental protection purposes worldwide, including the prevention, preparedness and response in cases of environmental emergencies, she has been the recipient of the ?Green Star? Award by UNEP/OCHA/Green Cross International, a US Special Congressional Recognition, the Global Citizenship Award for Leadership in Assisting Humanity, and the Goddess Artemis Award by the Euro-American Women's Council.
