Senator Francis 'Chiz" Escudero has been a public servant, for over 13 years now. Initially, as a Congressman from 1998-2007 and presently as a Senator of the Philippine Republic. A graduate of the University of the Philippines with a degree in law, he went on to obtain a Master's degree in International and Comparative Law at Georgetown University in 1996. He served as House Minority Floor Leader from 2004-2007. At present, he heads the senate Committees on Justice and Human Rights and Environment and Natural Resources. He is also the Senate representative to the Philippine Judicial and Bar Council. He earned several distinctions, including a TOYM (Ten Outstanding Young Men of the Philippines) award; the only Filipino named in Asia News Network's Asia's Idols in 2007; 2008 Young Global Leader from the World Economic Forum; Legislator of the Year in 2000; and Most Outstanding Solon in 1998, 1999 and 2000. Initiatives he passed into law concern education, tax, information management and professional regulation.
