Gila Gamliel is the Deputy Minister for the Advancement of Young Adults, Students and Women in the Israeli Prime Minister's Office and a Member of the Knesset. She has more than 13 years of experience in public office, serving as Chairperson of the Ben-Gurion University Students' Organization and the Israeli National Students' Association. Gamliel is a Member of the Knesset House of Representatives and, from 2005 to 2006, was Deputy Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development. This made her the youngest woman ever to become a member of the Israeli government. In 2009, she was appointed to her current position and has since passed legislation granting numerous benefits to veterans of the Israel Defense Forces. She also passed legislation regarding women's rights in the workplace, imposing limitations on convicted sex criminals and has made municipal War on Drugs committees mandatory. Gamliel is co-founder of the Knesset Christian Allies Caucus and serves as its Deputy Chairperson. She holds a Master's Degree in Philosophy and an LLM degree.
