Hafsat Abiola-Costello is the Special Adviser on Millennium Development Goals to the Ogun State Government in Nigeria. The daughter of Nigeria's elected president and a leader of the country's pro-democracy movement, she is also the Founder and Non-Executive President of the Kudirat Initiative for Democracy (KIND), an NGO that promotes the development of women as initiators of change by offering leadership training and raising awareness about social constraints such as violence against women. A prolific writer and speaker, Abiola-Costello holds a BA (Hons) in Economics from Harvard University and a Master's in International Development from Tsinghua University. She sits on several boards, including the Women's Learning Partnership, which works primarily in Muslim societies; and Vital Voices, an organization founded by Hillary Clinton to promote women's participation in building democracy. She is a councilor on the World Future Council and sits on the Fetzer Advisory Council on Non-Governmental Organizations. Abiola-Costello is the recipient of several national and international awards.
