Jack Ma Yun
Jack Ma Yun is Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Alibaba Group and is responsible for its overall strategy and focus. He previously worked as an English teacher at the Hangzhou Electronics and Engineering Institute. In 1995, he founded Chinapages.com, a listing of Chinese suppliers and China’s first online directory. After he helped construct the website for the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation (MOFTEC), he served as Head of Information at its China International Electronic Commerce Centre. Under his leadership, Infoshare developed some of MOFTEC’s best known Internet projects, including the China Market website. Ma Yun currently serves on the board of SOFTBANK, a leading digital information company that is publicly traded on the Tokyo Stock Exchange. He is also a Member of the APEC Business Advisory Council, which was established by the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation in 1995 as the vehicle for formalizing private sector participation in APEC. He holds a BA in English from Hangzhou Teachers’ Institute.
