Karien van Gennip
General Manager, Private Banking and Investments
Since September 2012, Karien van Gennip has been ING's General Manager of Private Banking & Investments in the Netherlands. Prior to this position, she was ING's Director of Group Public and Government Affairs. Previously, van Gennip was a Member of Parliament in the Netherlands and served as Minister for Foreign Trade and State Secretary of Economic Affairs (2003-2007). As a minister, she combined her extensive business experience with a keen public service interest, building international relations and focusing on international trade and economic reform. Van Gennip started her career as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company in Amsterdam and San Francisco, joining the Financial Markets Authority in 2002. She holds an MA in Applied Physics from Delft University of Technology, Netherlands and an MBA from INSEAD, France. Van Gennip is the Chairperson of the Supervisory Board of SOS Children's Villages the Netherlands and serves on several supervisory boards, including Cordaid and Deltares. As of 1 July 2012, she joined the Executive Board of the International Chamber of Commerce.
