Lujaina Mohsin Haider Darwish, is the Jt. Deputy Managing Director of Mohsin Haider Darwish Group of companies, and heads the Human Resources, Omanisation and Training departments. The world took notice of women power in Oman when Darwish became one of the first two women to be elected to the country's Consultative Council, the Majlis A'Shura. She is a major proponent of women's causes, representing Omani women in many international forums. In Forbes Arabia's March 2006 issue, she was ranked as the 13th most powerful businesswomen in the Arab World. Darwish is a well-known figure in Oman's and GCC business landscape by her constant and active involvement in various activities, organizations and institutions. She has served Oman Chamber of Commerce & Industry as a Board and Executive Committee Member, as President of its Investment Committee and Chairperson of its Business Women Committee. She is a member of the Board of Omani Center for Investment Promotion & Export Development (OCIPED). Darwish is an active campaigner for women's and GCC business issues, and a Member of the Arab International Women's and the GCC Women's Forums.
