Free the Children
Marc Kielburger is CEO of Free the Children, the world's largest network of children helping children through education. More than 1 million young people have been involved in the organization’s innovative programmes in more than 45 countries. Free the Children, launched by Kielburger’s brother Craig at age 12, has received wide recognition including three nominations for the Nobel Peace Prize and partners with the United Nations and Oprah’s Angel Network. In 1999, the brothers co-founded Leaders Today, which trains young people to have the skills and confidence to go out and change the world. This involves linking students with public service opportunities and running a three-day leadership training seminar, Volunteer Now, in seven school districts across Canada. Three more will be added in 2007 and the brothers hope to expand the programme to the USA. Kielburger did his undergraduate work at Harvard and took courses at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard. He was a Rhodes scholar and earned a Law Degree from Oxford.
