Teba Bank appointed Mark Williams to its board as Chief Executive in April 2007. Teba Bank has a rich history of providing basic financial services to mine workers and their families over the past 30 years. He is also an active participant of the Nepad Business Forum (NBF). Previously, Williams was Director of Retail Banking Segments at Barclays Africa, where he was one of the top 50 leaders within their Africa and Middle East operations. He has 18 years of experience in the financial and banking industry, including Standard Bank and Absa. His career has been eventful and rewarding; especially the five years spent building retail banking capabilities across 13 African markets. Williams is a social activist and believes that financial services are a fundamental pillar to improve the lives of the poor. An MBA graduate from Potchefstroom University, his ancestral home is in the Eastern Cape, where he completed his schooling in the mid-1980s.
