Michael Kremer is Gates Professor of Developing Studies at Harvard University?s Department of Economics. Kremer served as Associate Editor for the Journal of Development Economics and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. His current research focuses on peer effects and drinking behaviour among college roommates; preventing and eliminating debt accumulation by dictators in developing countries; ways of encouraging private research and development in tropical agriculture; ways of encouraging research and development on AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria vaccines. Expertise: AIDS and infectious diseases in developing countries, economics of developing countries, education and development, mechanisms for encouraging research and development. Kremer holds an AB and a PhD from Harvard University.1997, MacArthur Fellowship.
