Gates Professor of Developing Societies, Department of Economics
Michael Kremer is Gates Professor of Developing Studies at Harvard University’s Department of Economics. Kremer served as Associate Editor for the Journal of Development Economics and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. His current research focuses on peer effects and drinking behaviour among college roommates; preventing and eliminating debt accumulation by dictators in developing countries; ways of encouraging private research and development in tropical agriculture; ways of encouraging research and development on AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria vaccines. Expertise: AIDS and infectious diseases in developing countries, economics of developing countries, education and development, mechanisms for encouraging research and development. Kremer holds an AB and a PhD from Harvard University.1997, MacArthur Fellowship.
