Mitsuru Claire Chino is the Corporate Counsel of Itochu Corporation, where she has a reputation for skilful international negotiations and commitment to diversity issues. She lectures at Keio Law School and Hitotsubashi Business School, where she teaches laws relating to cross-border investments. Chino is very involved in gender issues in Japan and concerned with the challenges facing women's careers in the country, such as inadequate childcare, nursing care for elderly parents and lack of work opportunities. She is a Member of the Advisory Board of Cornell Law School and the President's Council of Cornell Women, and is Chair of the Corporate Counsel Committee of the Inter-Pacific Bar Association. She was an Asia 21 Fellow (Asia Society), Yale World Fellow, and a Fellow of the US-Japan Foundation. She is a professionally trained classical singer and was a finalist in the 2007 Tokyo Voice Competition. She holds a BA from Smith College and a JD from Cornell Law School.
