MSc in Development Planning from UCL, and PhD on Local Governance from SOAS, UK. Former Founder and Chair, Humanitarian Assistance to the Women and Children of Afghanistan, establishing training programmes for refugee Afghan women and children in Pakistan and Afghanistan. During Taliban regime, launched underground literacy and health education programmes for women and girls. Since 2010, Founder and Director, Youth and Women's Leadership Centre. Member of the Board: Afghanistan Human Rights and Democracy Organisation; Afghan Women's Network; other human rights networks in Afghanistan. Author of articles for: The Guardian, UK; Nytid, Norway; Century Foundation, NY. Recipient of awards: Visiting Scholar in CMI (Norway) (2012); Yale World Fellow (2008); Chevening Fellow/Scholar (2005), Amnesty International (2000).
