Pham Thi Hue
Haiphong Red Flamboyant Group
Thi Hue Pham is Founder of Haiphong Red Flamboyant, a support group for people living with HIV/AIDS, which she founded in 2005. The organization, which also runs a hotline, is named after a local flower. Pham was infected with HIV by her husband. She refused to be shamed into silence, as Vietnamese with HIV/AIDS customarily are. Instead, she went public, appearing on television and at conferences and became the public face of Mothers and Wives, an HIV/AIDS support group established in Haiphong by a Norwegian non-governmental organization and her neighbourhood’s People's Committee.
