Philipp Freise is a Partner at Kohlberg Kravis Roberts (KKR). Since joining in 2001, he has been instrumental in building the investment firm's track record in Germany, where KKR has invested more than US$ 4 billion of equity capital in transactions valued at more than US$ 20 billion. He is also head of KKR Europe's media investment team and has led some of KKR's more innovative investments such as digital music company BMG Rights and online photography market place Fotolia. Prior to joining KKR, Freise was Co-Founder of Venturepark, a pan-European early stage venture capital firm. From 1996 to 1999, he worked for McKinsey & Company in Vienna, Frankfurt and New York. In 2008, Freise was named a Young Leader of the Atlantik-Brücke, a private, non-profit association dedicated to strengthening mutual understanding between Germany and the United States. He was also elected “Top 40 under 40 Private Equity Investors” in 2009 and 2013 by Financial News, and “Top 40 under 40 Rising Stars” in Germany by Die Welt in 2011.
