Rex Bernardo teaches business management, marketing and human resources management courses at several universities and does consultancy work with local government agencies in the Philippines. He is actively involved in several development organizations such as Gawad Kalinga (Give Care) and CARITAS Daet. He is also a staunch advocate on the rights of people with disabilities, specifically in the field of inclusive education. Bernardo was a Ten Outstanding Young Persons awardee for 2009 and was cited as an MDG Warrior in 2010 for his contribution to achieving universal primary education (MDG Goal 2). He was also named “Filipino Hero” in the same year by ABS-CBN, the biggest television broadcaster in the country. Bernardo earned a PhD in Education from Bicol University, an MA in Development Management from the Asian Institute of Management, an MA in Human Resource Management from the University of Sydney and an MA in Management from Trinity University of Asia.
