Founder and Executive Director
Ronit Avni is an award-winning filmmaker, media strategist and human rights advocate. She is the Founder and Executive Director of Just Vision, an organization that supports Palestinian and Israeli efforts to end the conflict. Avni produced the film Budrus (2009), which won 18 awards, including the PUMA.Creative Impact Award. She also directed Encounter Point (2006), which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival, received several Audience Awards for Best Documentary and screened in 200 cities. Recently, she executive produced Just Vision's Peabody Award-winning short film, My Neighbourhood (2012). Previously, Avni trained human rights defenders to incorporate digital media and film into advocacy efforts at the human rights organization WITNESS. She co-edited the book “Video for Change” with WITNESS and sits on the WITNESS Board. Recipient of Search for Common Ground's Award and Auburn's Lives of Commitment Award, Avni is a UN Global Expert and a Term Member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
