Rye Barcott is Special Adviser to the Chairman of Duke Energy, where he focuses on commercializing disruptive innovation and international investments. He served in the US Marine Corps and is Co-Founder of Carolina for Kibera, a non-governmental organization that develops leaders and prevents violence in the slums of Nairobi, Kenya. He is also author of “It Happened on the Way to War: A Marine's Path to Peace”. In 2011, US President Barack Obama appointed him as a representative of the veteran community to the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board. Barcott graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill, Harvard Kennedy School and Harvard Business School, where he was a Center for Public Leadership Social Enterprise Fellow.
