1989, Bachelor of Commerce in Finance, Dalhousie University. Extensive private sector experience as an entrepreneur and investment banker. Former Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister with special emphasis on Canada-US Relations. 2004-06, Minister of Public Works and Government Services, and Receiver General of Canada, the youngest member of Prime Minister Paul Martin's cabinet. Also served on three cabinet committees including Treasury Board, Domestic Affairs and Expenditure Review. Currently, Liberal Member of Parliament for Kings-Hants (Nova Scotia) and Vice-Chair of the Finance Committee, House of Commons, Canada; also a key Liberal Party spokesperson on the economy and currently serves as the Liberal Shadow Minister of Finance and Revenue.
