Scott Gilmore is a social entrepreneur with a focus on creating new markets in emerging economies. Formerly a diplomat, Gilmore launched in 2004 the award-winning charity Building Markets to help reduce poverty by connecting local entrepreneurs to global supply chains. Pioneering new models for creating shared value, Building Markets has helped provide 130,000 jobs and redirected over US$ 1 billion into the developing world. He recently launched a new social enterprise, Anchor Chain, to help the extractive industries measure and maximize their local economic impact. Gilmore is a Senior Ashoka Fellow and recently was awarded the G20 prize for new ideas in SME finance by US President Barack Obama.
