Sebastian Palla is the Board of Director's Adviser of Banco Macro, which started operating as a non-banking financial institution in 1985 through the purchase of Macro Financiera. Macro is the only bank that may show 28 consecutive quarters of profit, amounting to ARS 660 million in 2008, while loans to the private sector showed a 15% increase. From 2003 to 2005, he was Undersecretary of Financing for the Ministry of Economy and Production of Argentina. He had direct responsibility in Argentina's debt restructuring and worked with investment banks after participating in a long-term agreement with the IMF (SBA). Later, he joined the Union of Pension Funds (UAFJP) as Executive Director, then President, from 2006 to 2009. He encouraged investments in the real economy to strengthen capital markets and handled media relations. Palla was an Eisenhower Fellow in 2008. He is in the book, The Education of Influential, and was selected as one of the Most Influential Persons 2007. Palla has a Bachelor's in Economics from the Torcuato Di Tella University.
