Founder and Executive Director
Selene Biffi is a humanitarian and social entrepreneur. She is Founder and Executive Director of Plain Ink, which publishes free educational comics for children and communities in developing countries. She also recently opened a school to revive traditional storytelling in Kabul, Afghanistan. Biffi has worked as a consultant, trainer and speaker at a number of organizations, including the UN, the World Bank, OSCE, Council of Europe, Columbia University and Microsoft. Formerly part of the Task Force on Innovative Start-ups of the Minister of Economic Development of Italy, she currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Foundation for Innovation in the Third Sector of Banca Prossima (Banca Intesa). She has received over 40 awards and fellowships, including the UNAOC Intercultural Innovation Award and the Rolex Awards for Enterprise (Young Laureate). Biffi holds a BA in International Economics and Management from Bocconi University in Italy, a NOHA Master's in International Humanitarian Action from UCD (Ireland), and diplomas from Harvard University and the NSEAD Business School.
