Taku Otsuka was elected as a Member of the House of Representatives in Japan in 2005 and served on the Security Committee, the Committee on Cabinet, the Special Committee on Prevention of International Terrorism and Japan's Cooperation and Support, Humanitarian Assistance for Reconstruction in Iraq and the Special Committee on Political Ethics and Election Law. In the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), he served as Deputy Director-General of the International Bureau. Before entering politics, Otsuka worked in the financial sector. He received a Master's in Public Policy with a concentration in International Trade and Finance from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and a Bachelor's in Law from Keio University. He is currently serving as an Affiliated Fellow at the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS), focusing on foreign and technology policy, and a Sasakawa Peace Foundation Fellow at the Pacific Forum CSIS. He is the LDP's candidate for the House of Representatives for Saitama's 9th district.
