Valerie Casey is a globally recognized designer and innovator. She works with organizations all over the world on challenges ranging from creating new products and services, to transforming organizational processes and behaviours. Before starting the innovation consultancy Necessary Projects in San Francisco, she held executive leadership positions at the internationally renowned design firms IDEO, frog and Pentagram. Casey was named a “Guru” of the year by Fortune magazine, a “Hero of the Environment” by Time magazine, a “Master of Design” by Fast Company and one of the “World's Most Influential Designers” by BusinessWeek. Casey is the founder of the Designers Accord, the coalition of designers, educators and business leaders working together to create positive sustainable impact. With membership spanning over 100 countries, the global knowledge network seeks to employ creativity and collaboration to transform society. Casey lectures worldwide on innovation and sustainability. She holds a Master's degree in Cultural Theory and Design from Yale University, and a BA from Swarthmore College.
