Women for Women International
Zainab Salbi is the Founder of Women for Women International, an organization that works with women war survivors. Under her leadership, the organization has served 300,000 women in conflict and post-conflict countries and distributed more than US$ 100 million in direct financial aid and loans. Salbi is the author of three books - ?Between Two Worlds: Escape from Tyranny: Growing up in the Shadow of Saddam? and ?The Other Side of War: Women's Stories of Survival and Hope? and ?If You Knew Me, You Would Care?. In 2011, she was named one of the top 100 most influential women by The Guardian, Newsweek and the Tony Blair Foundation, and the most influential women in America by PBS Maker's series. She is also one of 22 leaders with the Clinton Global Initiative Lead. Salbi's work has received frequent media attention, including 10 appearances on The Oprah Winfrey Show. She is currently focusing on featuring the role of Arab women in the Arab awakening through several media projects.
