Degree in Law, University of Copenhagen. More than 25 years’ experience in international development and human rights. Formerly: with the United Nations Development Programme, first in Indonesia and then as Chief of Staff, UNDP Headquarters; led country operations, UNFPA, Turkey, Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan. 2007-09, led the Danish Government’s humanitarian and civil society work, Danish Ministry for Foreign Affairs; then Ambassador and Undersecretary for Management, Danish Ministry for Foreign Affairs; then UN Assistant Secretary-General and Deputy Executive Director for Management, UN Population Fund (UNFPA). Since September 2015, Chief Executive Officer, Plan International, an independent child rights organization working in over 70 countries across the globe. The organization aims to create a just world that advances child rights and equality for girls, working in the most marginalized and excluded communities and believes that every child and young person – including the most vulnerable – has enormous potential; investing in their rights and engaging them in decision-making is investing in a better future for all.
