Juan Carlos Thomas is the Vice President of Entrepreneurship and New Ventures at TechnoServe, where he leads the development and deployment of best practices in the support of entrepreneurs and small-and-growing businesses in the organization’s projects.
Previously, he served as TechnoServe’s Chile Country Director. Among his accomplishments in that role, he led the first inclusive business development programme in Chile; the first small business accelerator programme in Patagonia; several economic development programmes in communities surrounding energy and mining projects; and the design of business development methodologies now being used in Latin America and Africa.
Before opening the TechnoServe office in Chile in 2008, Juan Carlos worked in the Corporate Finance and Capital Markets division at Bank Boston Chile. He has lectured on finance, entrepreneurship and social entrepreneurship at various universities. Juan Carlos holds an MBA from INSEAD and a bachelor’s degree from Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez.
