Agri-tech innovation can improve value capture, transform ecosystem for India’s small farmers
Smallholders account for 86% of the farmers in India but are economically impoverished, as they are unable to capture commensurate value for their produce.
Punit Gupta currently serves as Country Director, India at TechnoServe, an international development organization headquartered in Virginia, USA that develops business solutions to poverty.
In his leadership role, Punit is responsible for TechnoServe India’s overall progress towards its mission. During his 8+ years at TechnoServe, Punit has provided design and implementation leadership to high-value programs aimed at transforming the lives of over a 100,000 farmers, entrepreneurs and youth.
Punit has over 22 years of experience in the development and private sectors in India, Europe and the US. He previously served as the CEO of Intel-funded ESPL Media, led private equity investments in mid-sized Indian companies at Sabre Capital, and managed strategy projects for large global corporations as an Engagement Manager at McKinsey & Company, London. Punit earned an MBA (with distinction) from INSEAD, France, and holds a Bachelor’s degree from Lawrence University, Wisconsin, USA.
