Stewart is a Senior Lecturer in Literacies Education at the University of Southern Queensland. His research interests include looking at intersections of literacies learning, music and the lives of young people, as well as alternative perspectives in education, social justice, and Deleuze studies.
Stewart is a member of the English Teachers' Association of Queensland management committee and edits their journal, Words'Worth.
