This December, the World Economic Forum kicks off its first annual summit on cities

The Urban Transformation Summit brings together visionary leaders from business, government, civil society, media and the broader public to forge new partnerships, showcase innovative solutions and mobilize action in support of more sustainable and inclusive cities and urban economies.

The three-day event, to be held on 6-8 December 2021, includes both in-person activities in Detroit as well a series of virtual sessions, fireside chats, workshops and dialogues.

The Summit provides an opportunity to shine a global spotlight on community-based efforts and facilitate candid discussions about best practices and lessons learned. Site visits in Detroit, organized in collaboration with Detroit Future City, Building Community Value, Rocket Community Fund and others, will help tell the story of how the public and private sector have worked together to help revitalize local business districts, renovate and stabilize local housing markets, and reinvent historic properties in the wake of decades-long decline.
