Japan is tackling unprecedented challenges that other leading economies will eventually face: economic and societal structural reforms symbolized by Abenomics; a rapidly ageing and diminishing population; gender and diversity imbalances; energy solutions; and disaster management. All of these major challenges will have consequences for the role of business, government, academia and civil society.
Japanese technology and innovation as well as the long-term cultural and societal perspectives for sustainability offer untapped potential to contribute to the global public good. The Global Agenda Council on Japan will work with political, business, civil society and academic leaders from Japan and the world to help steer the country’s future economic, political and societal trends.
In the coming term, the council will focus particularly on connecting with global thought leaders and provide several platforms for Japanese leaders to interact with global leaders to share perspectives.
