CDC Group

Founded in 1948, CDC (formerly known as the Commonwealth Development Corporation) is the United Kingdom's Development Finance Institution (DFI). Wholly owned by the government's Department for International Development, its mission is to be a pioneering investor, stimulating the private sector and demonstrating the power of enterprise and private capital to reduce poverty in the poorest places of the world. Its geographic remit is focused on low-income and lower to middle income countries in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. The company has investments in over 1,200 businesses in emerging economies, with total net assets of £6.5 billion and a portfolio of £4.7 billion.
