The Federation of Māori Authorities (FOMA) was established in 1987 to foster and promote the sound management and economic advancement of Maori authorities. Since that time, FOMA has been instrumental in the development of key economic strategic strategy, policy and legislation that provides the platform for the burgeoning Maori economy. Representing Maori Authorities, incorporations, trusts, companies and small and medium-sized businesses, FOMA’s estimated asset base is NZD$11 billion. FOMA has strategic partnerships with government and industry, with a focus on freshwater, climate change, environmental management and trade, as these priorities relate to the ownership, management and use of Maori land.
