National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC)

National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), established in 1986, is China’s principal agency for funding basic and frontier research. Administered under the Ministry of Science and Technology, it supports research across natural sciences, engineering, life sciences, health, earth and information sciences, management and interdisciplinary fields. The NSFC allocates national funds through peer-reviewed, merit-based competitions to advance scientific excellence, nurture talent and strengthen innovation capacity. It also promotes international collaboration and research infrastructure development, contributing to China’s long-term scientific and technological progress.
