Pies Descalzos Foundation

A Colombian non-profit, non-governmental organization, created in 1997 by Colombian artist Shakira. It focuses on finding educational and development opportunities for Colombia's vulnerable and displaced children. It supports schools in three Colombian regions, seriously affected by internal displacement which are Quibdó on the Pacific coast, Altos de Cazucá in the outskirts of Bogotá and Barranquilla in the Caribbean. In these three territories, more than 5,000 children receive education, balanced food, uniforms, school kits, psycho-social support and an offer of after school activities.
