PlanetRead

PlanetRead is a non-profit organization that aims to deliver daily reading to a billion people in India, on TV, via an extremely simple yet powerful idea called Same Language Subtitling (SLS). Its mission is “Literacy for a Billion”. The four branches of PlanetRead's work are all around its core SLS innovation: implementation of SLS on existing films and film-song-based TV programmes in a number of languages; and impact research on reading skills, policy advocacy, and the conversion of BookBox content for children's reading in underserved languages. BookBox is a for-benefit sister organization of PlanetRead.
