About
Zero Waste Japan is a non-profit organization established in 2005 driving zero-waste policy implementation and advocacy. It is based in Kamikatsu, the first local municipality to sign up to Japan’s zero-waste ambition and famous for its 45 categories of waste sorting done by every person living in the town, recycling more than 80% of its waste. The organization has a zero-waste mid-term plan for the community, established the Zero Waste Accreditation system for businesses, engaged local stores in community-based package-free sales models and held 100 sessions on zero-waste practices annually nationally and internationally.
