Anna Marrs

President, Global Commercial Services, American Express Company

Anna Marrs is the CEO of Standard Chartered Bank’s ASEAN and South Asia region and CEO of Commercial and Private Banking globally. She joined Standard Chartered as Group Head of Strategy and Corporate Development in January 2012. In her role as Head of Strategy, Anna led reviews of the Bank’s businesses globally, with notable projects focusing on Nigeria, China and India.

Prior to joining Standard Chartered, Anna was a Partner in McKinsey & Company’s Banking Practice. While at McKinsey, Anna led the European Banking strategy practice and worked with banks across the US, Europe and Asia on strategy and restructuring plans. Before joining McKinsey in 2003, Anna was the CEO of a financial information company based in London. She started her career at D. E. Shaw, a New York-based investment firm.

In her current role as CEO of Commercial and Private Banking, Anna has led the restructuring of the Bank’s Commercial Banking business and the scaling up of Private Banking and Wealth Management. She has also championed increased investment in technology and analytics across both businesses.

Anna has lived and worked primarily in New York, London and now Singapore, where she lives with her husband and two children. She holds an MBA from London Business School and an undergraduate degree from Northwestern University in Chicago.
